  3. Hmmm…. they …
Hmmm…. they pioneer futuristic medicines and for this risk they expect to lose money because they shouldn’t take a profit. Wow… Greed to make a drug that people want will make them work hard to pioneer new drugs taht you don’t have to buy but are there when you are hurt or sick.

  4. They vary for the …
They vary for the exact reasons he said. name brand drugs often are advertised so they cost more. Some drugs are very specialized for just a few cases. Becasue there isn’t much of a market they spent a lot developing a drug for a few people, it will cost more.
Some times a drug is still under paptent so there are no generic alternatives, meaning they have a monopoly and researched the drug they will charge more. The market place allows companies to charge more when they research more.

  5. I love how in these …
I love how in these videos huge corporate profit margins are always excused as necessary for recouping the weighty, burdensome costs of R&D, production, and advertising.

If they were being spent on R&D, they wouldn’t be called PROFITS. Profits are what’s left AFTER you factor in the expenses.

This video explains HOW different drugs vary wildly in price. But it doesn’t tell you why.

    Any guesses?

  15. well it is very …
well it is very inconvenient to wait for a mail order. Most senior use mail order because they have to take certain medication for the rest of their lives. But if you were to take an antibiotic for 7 days to get rid of strep throat you will not want to wait for that mail to come in. In other words, Mail order are mostly used for long term medication and you can continuously getting Rx from doctors before hand so you wouldn’t miss your dosage.

  16. Generics are …
Generics are cheaper but NOT because they aren’t advertised or marketed. This is misleading. Generics are cheaper because the patent on the drug expires, allowing other drug manufacturers to synthesize the drug and compete. What the video doesn’t explain is that new drugs cost a lot because patents grant the inventor the exclusive right to manufacture the drug, temporarily producing a monopoly, and the lack of competition is what allows the cost to rise so high.

  23. staysmartstayhea1thy channel is a corporate shill.

What the Democrats are working on right now to fix the health care crisis isn’t even enough. It’s not even the will of the people.

A majority of Americans want a single-payer health care system. I’m sorry, but the free market has no business telling people their lives are only worth as much as they’re capable of paying for.

  24. generic drugs are …
generic drugs are not the same!!!!! often generics have the same clinical value but do not release the drug the same way brand name drugs do. I have seen so many patients with mental disorders switch to generics and experience treatment set backs because the drug does not have the same effectuation rate.

  25. These videos are …
These videos are propaganda for private health care… Making sure things stay the same in the US.

I feel bad that not all Americans have health care and I hope they can eventually have the guts to take on the big insurance companies.

Until then, they’ll be getting their health education from a truly bias source.
